Andrew Kootntz
American Renaissance School Board of Directors

Andrew joined the Board of Directors on November 14, 2022.

"My name is Andrew Koontz! I am a proud Statesville native and graduate from Statesville High School. I received my Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Appalachian State University (Go Neers!!) and currently work as an accountant downtown at the office of John M. Barnard CPA, PA. My wife Sara and I have two sons, Maddox (11) and Weston (7), who both attend ARS. I have enjoyed coaching soccer and T-ball for both of my boys here at the school and look forward to this opportunity to serve on the board! Outside of school, I love spending time with my family at the beach or in the high country and taking any chance to get to a Braves, Canes or Charlotte FC game whenever possible."

What do you like best about ARS?

"What I've always enjoyed about American Renaissance School is the culture and atmosphere it provides to the staff, students and parents. Having our core values at the forefront of what we stand for and practice daily only makes ARS that much stronger! I love the opportunity for ARS to expand and continue to be a valued presence in our downtown community!"

ARS Board of Directors:

Public charter schools are different from traditional public schools in a number of important ways. One of the main differences between public charter schools and traditional public schools is in the way governance is structured. Unlike traditional public schools, public charter schools are governed and operated by the Board of a private non-profit corporation. Board members are recruited or elected volunteers that are responsible for governance, budgeting, fiscal oversight, curriculum, operating procedures and strategic planning at the school, among other responsibilities. The Board holds the school's charter, receives grants and funding, and is responsible for sound administration and oversight. The Board works closely with the Executive Director and has a direct impact on the ultimate success of the school.
