Elementary Campus Chorus

Sep 6, 2017 -- Posted by : admin

The elementary school chorus is an after-school extracurricular activity open to 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students who enjoy singing. Our fall season group will rehearse together weekly on Thursdays after school to prepare for holiday performances in December. I will be leading the group along with our middle school music director, Mr. Brad Rashley. During our practices we work a bit on improving vocal technique, learn holiday songs, and enjoy a bit of movement/dancing. Our chorus time is intended to be a positive enjoyable musical experience for all - even the leaders! Everyone needs to be able to participate fully by giving their best at rehearsals and in concerts. Attendance is required at rehearsals and performances unless the absence is excused because of illness, doctor appointments, etc. If a child misses too many rehearsals to be able to learn the music adequately then it would be inappropriate to perform with the group.

Chorus rehearses on Thursday afternoons after school until 4:05 at the elementary school. Our first rehearsal will be on Thursday, Sept. 14th. I will call on the intercom for the chorus students to come from their classrooms to the music room during dismissal at approximately 3:05 to begin practice. We will rehearse until 4:00, pack up, and be ready for pick-up at 4:05. Students can be picked up at the front entrance to the elementary school on Broad Street. Students who participate in our after school program will go directly there after practice.

If your child is interested in participating, please contact me in writing or by email (rogerss@arsnc.org). Please respond by Tuesday, Sept. 12th.

Thanks for your support of our music program. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Take care,
Sarah Rogers
